Adolph Anderson, the 17 acre estate features three architecturally significant & historic structures; The spacious main house, stylish guest house and sweet cottage are all made from stone and imagination, with the original home designed by prominent architect A.M. Bedell in 1929 and the additional residential buildings following in 1933. Entering the primary residence is to step into history. The stunning double-height great room with balcony has played host to renowned artists of every stripe through the decades, with the inspired design detail easily matched by the art and music created within its walls. In this wing you will find an office, two powder rooms & upper level bedroom and library. Just past a massive bluestone fireplace, a central foyer leads into a formal dining room with mountain views, a country cooks kitchen, breakfast area and an open-plan family room with another massive fireplace with wood stove & built-in bread oven with more verdant views across the cool grass and pergola-covered patio just outside French doors. The third stone structure is a two bedroom fully-outfitted cottage that has been stylishly updated, and is connected to a three-bay garage and a greenhouse ready to be either restored or turned into a Romanesque walled garden. Additional structures include a tool shed and three-stall barn, as well as an enchanting picnic pavilion sited up on a knoll with views of Slide Mountain, the tallest peak of the Catskills. The estate is truly park-like, with paths, stone walls, orchards, fields of wildflowers and a centerpiece large pond with its own art island that showcases a sculpture by Michael Lang. For hot summer days you can enjoy a swim in the 53 x 40 oval lined cement pool while gazing at the mountains in the distance.
